- Carry out planned preventative maintenance on production equipment such as block moulders, pre-expanders, hotwire cutters, conveyors, compressors, and hydraulic systems.
- Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise downtime and keep production running smoothly.
- Perform routine inspections across the site, including the cooling tower, boiler, compressed air systems, and general plant facilities.
- Diagnose and fix faults across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date maintenance records using the site’s maintenance system.
- Spot potential issues early, report them, and suggest practical solutions to prevent failures or safety risks.
- Support equipment upgrades, installations, and modifications when required.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with company policies and legal requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the plant.
- Completed a recognised apprenticeship in an engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, or multi-skilled).
- At least 3 years’ experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing or industrial environment (experience in plastics, foam, or similar industries is a plus).
- Strong mechanical knowledge, with the ability to carry out basic electrical fault finding and repairs.
- Familiarity with boilers, cooling towers, and industrial utility systems would be advantageous.
- Able to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Comfortable working independently or as part of a team, with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- A reliable team player who can also work confidently on their own.
- Forward-thinking, with good planning skills and the ability to anticipate potential issues.
- Self-motivated, resilient, and able to take initiative.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Detail-oriented, organised, and methodical in approach.
- Good time management skills and able to prioritise workload effectively.
- Flexible and adaptable in approach to work.
- Follow all safety procedures at all times, with safety as the top priority.
- Support a zero-accident culture across the site.
- Always wear the appropriate PPE for the task.
- Report any near misses or hazards promptly.
- Use the correct tools and safe working techniques, including proper lifting methods.
- Work with the Plant Engineer to ensure all equipment is safe, maintained, and compliant.
- Help ensure everyone working in and around machinery follows health and safety rules.
