P&D/HV Power Construction Manager – Rail

Our client is currently sourcing a P&D/HV Power Construction Manager for their rail project based in Manchester on a long-term contract basis (inside IR35)

The main purpose of the role is to lead the delivery of plant and distribution works for rail substation projects and support the P&D team in delivering allocated contracts safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance with legislation, company procedures, and contract requirements.

Other responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all P&D construction activities on rail substation projects
  • Take ownership of site delivery, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to required quality standards
  • Plan and coordinate installation activities including methodology, sequencing, and resource allocation
  • Develop and manage construction programmes
  • Monitor progress and implement corrective actions where required
  • Oversee installation of plant and distribution systems including switchgear, transformers, cabling, earthing, and associated equipment

Skills/Experience required

  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager or Senior Site Manager within P&D / rail power infrastructure
  • Valid PTS (Personal Track Safety)
  • OLEC1 Qualification
  • Strong knowledge of Network Rail standards and processes
  • Experience managing multiple subcontractors and complex site operations
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience delivering rail substation or power infrastructure projects (desirable)
  • COSS (desirable)
  • Level B substation access(desirable)
