Job Description: Plastic Fabricator Overview

        •      Job Title: Plastic Fabricator  

•     Location: Slinfold

•     Job Status: Permanent 

  • Salary: £ 14 per hour
  • Shifts: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am- 4 :00 pm
  • Objective: Responsible for production fabrication tasks.  

 

Requirements  

  • Essential: Previous experience in plastic process vessel fabrication.  
  • Essential: Full driving licence.  
  • Desirable: Forklift truck (FLT) operator qualification.  

 

Key Responsibilities Fabrication & Production

  • Hands-on Assembly: Fabricates, assembles, reworks, and repairs plastic products using hand/power tools, precision instruments, and machinery.  
  • Blueprints & Layouts: Interprets blueprints and work orders to plan operations ; marks cutting lines on materials (sheet stock, fiberglass) using templates or sketches.  
  • Processing & Shaping: Cuts material to size (using saws, shears, routers, etc.) and operates forming machines/presses, laminates resins/cloth onto moulds , or heats parts to shape them.  
  • Finishing & Fitting: Trims, drills, grinds, and finishes parts ; fits components using clamps, jigs, and fasteners ; applies bonding adhesives/tape for autoclave processing.  
  • Quality & Repair: Verifies dimensions using calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators ; repairs defects via lay up, cementing, molding, or foaming.

  • Quality Standards: Meets or exceeds all quality benchmarks.  
  • Teamwork: Assists colleagues and actively contributes to team tasks.  
  • General Support: Handles other production tasks directed by management or team leaders.

  • Complies fully with company safety policies and procedures.  
  • Protects the safety of staff, visitors, and customers.  
  • Strictly follows valid risk assessments and method statements.  

 

Key Skills

  • Knowledge of plastic vessel fabrication standards and codes.  
  • Sound engineering risk judgment and firm commitment to safety choices under pressure.  
  • Strong communication (open/constructive), organizational, numeracy, and literacy skills.  

 

Performance & Reporting

  • Success Measures: Projects completed on schedule, to standard, with good punctuality and positive team relationships.  
  • Reporting: Provides regular production updates to the team leader.  
  • Key Interactions: Works manager, fabrication line managers, supervisors, inspectors, and operators.
