Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver highly personalised learning programmes tailored to individual pupil needs.
- Create engaging sensory-based learning opportunities that promote development and independence.
- Support pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties, complex medical needs and physical disabilities.
- Work collaboratively with therapists, healthcare professionals and support staff.
- Monitor, assess and record pupil progress against individual targets.
- Implement communication strategies including PECS, Makaton and AAC where appropriate.
- Promote pupil wellbeing, engagement and personal development.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience working with pupils with PMLD, SLD or complex SEND needs.
- Knowledge of specialist communication approaches and sensory learning strategies.
- Strong understanding of EHCPs and personalised curriculum planning.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
- Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual pupil needs.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable
- Experience within a specialist SEND school.
- Training in Moving and Handling.
- Knowledge of autism, sensory processing and complex medical needs.
- Experience working alongside multidisciplinary teams.
