Private Client Tax Director

We are seeking an experienced Private Client Tax Director to provide strategic leadership across complex personal tax planning and compliance. This is a senior role with responsibility for significant client relationships, business development, and the leadership and development of a high‑performing private client tax team.
You will be a trusted adviser to high‑net‑worth individuals and family groups, delivering exceptional client service while driving growth, innovation and operational excellence across the service line.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Leadership
- Lead and develop long‑term relationships with key private clients, acting as principal adviser on complex tax matters
- Anticipate client needs by understanding legislative, commercial and market trends
- Deliver consistently high levels of client satisfaction and service quality
- Lead cross‑service line collaboration to deliver joined‑up solutions
- Manage client issues and complaints professionally and proactively
- Take the lead on complex private client tax compliance and advisory assignments
- Take ultimate responsibility for technical approach, risk assessment, fee setting and delivery
- Act as a recognised technical expert and point of escalation within the team
- Ensure quality standards exceed minimum requirements through strong governance and training
- Maintain a broad understanding of other service lines and identify opportunities outside your core discipline
- Build and grow a significant client portfolio, driving sustainable fee and revenue growth
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking and referrals
- Lead pricing strategy, minimum fee compliance and RRR reviews
- Articulate clear value propositions to support service expansion and cross‑selling
- Evaluate growth initiatives based on commercial viability, cost and benefit
- Provide clear direction and inspirational leadership to senior managers and wider teams
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive and high‑performance culture
- Support career development, succession planning and talent retention
- Empower and delegate effectively while maintaining oversight and accountability
- Address underperformance constructively through coaching, training and formal processes
- Manage complex workloads across multiple regions, ensuring delivery to time and budget
- Lead digital transformation and smarter‑working initiatives within the team
- Continuously review processes to improve efficiency, quality and scalability
- Use data and KPIs to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement
- Recognised technical expert in private client taxation
- Strong commercial acumen with a proven track record of fee growth
- Confident leader with experience managing and developing senior professionals
- Strategic thinker with the ability to influence and challenge constructively
- Committed to high ethical standards, professionalism and continuous improvement
- ATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA, CA (or qualified by experience)
