Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire
Salary: £35,000 – £42,000 pa
Working Hours: 8am – 4.40pm, with a 1:00pm finish on Fridays
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

We’re recruiting for a Production Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer to join a specialist machinery manufacturer based in Leeds.

The business designs and builds engineered equipment for a number of niche industrial markets, supplying customers across the UK and overseas.

With in-house design, manufacturing, machining, fitting and assembly capability, this is a varied role where you’ll help turn engineering drawings and customer requirements into well-planned, efficient production work.

As the Production Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll be responsible for creating and managing routes of manufacture, planning work through the MRP system, supporting workshop activity, and helping ensure jobs move smoothly through production.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Creating, updating and managing production routings / routes of manufacture
  • Planning manufacturing projects through the MRP system
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Reviewing drawings to determine the most efficient manufacturing methods
  • Supporting the machine shop and workshop with metal cutting methods, tooling choice and work holding
  • Identifying work holding, tooling and process requirements for different engineering tasks
  • Scheduling jobs through production
  • Procuring materials and managing subcontract requirements
  • Acting as the link between design, supply chain, machining, fitting and assembly
  • Helping ensure work is planned safely and in line with H&S procedures

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for a Production Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer who understands workshop production, engineering drawings, routings, manufacturing methods and MRP-based planning.

You may have experience in machining, fabrication, assembly, planning, production engineering, manufacturing engineering, methods engineering or technical planning. The key requirement is the ability to look at engineering drawings and determine how work should be planned, routed and delivered efficiently through production.

This role may also suit someone currently working as a Methods Engineer, Technical Planner, Production Planner, Manufacturing Planner, Routing Engineer or Process Engineer.
