About the Role
As a Mental Health Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who experience a range of social, emotional and mental health challenges. You will play a vital role in helping students access learning, build positive relationships and develop the emotional regulation skills they need to thrive both in school and beyond.
You will provide daily support to children and young people who may struggle with anxiety, low self-esteem, emotional regulation, attachment difficulties, trauma-related needs and behavioural challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis
- Helping students identify, understand and process their emotions, thoughts and behaviours
- Assisting pupils with emotional regulation strategies and coping mechanisms
- Supporting the implementation of personalised intervention and support plans
- Encouraging positive social interactions and relationship-building
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, pastoral teams and families
- Monitoring student progress and contributing to support strategies
