The Role

               

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the company's quality management and inspection processes are consistently followed across all operations. The role involves monitoring and reviewing major projects to ensure customer requirements are met and that quality is embedded throughout every stage of the process, resulting in compliant products and complete, accurate documentation packs.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure compliance with company, customer, and industry quality requirements across all operations.
  • Perform inspection and verification activities, including component inspection, First Article Inspection Reports (AS9102), measurement system analysis (GR&R), and calibration control.
  • Support quality planning activities, including APQP, NPI, FMEA, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and Quality Plans.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report quality performance metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Lead and support internal, external, customer, and supplier audits, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and requirements.
  • Investigate quality issues and non-conformances using structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, A3, Root Cause Analysis), driving effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and suppliers to embed quality throughout the manufacturing process and supply chain.
  • Promote a culture of quality through process improvement, training, guidance, and effective communication across the business.
  • Maintain quality documentation, procedures, and records using business systems, ERP software, and Microsoft Office applications.

Requirements

  • Engineering background (electrical or mechanical), with experience in a manufacturing or production environment; experience with rotating machines is advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of quality standards and tools, including ISO 9001:2015, AS9102, GD&T, Gauge R&R, MSA, and mechanical inspection techniques.
  • Experience of quality auditing, root cause analysis, and problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, A3, 5 Whys, and Ishikawa.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles would be beneficial.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, conduct inspections, analyse quality issues, and produce clear reports.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organisation.
  • Practical, proactive, and team-oriented approach, with a focus on Safety, Quality, Cost, and On-Time Delivery.
  • Flexible approach to working hours when required and able to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance.
