A well-established manufacturer serving the energy sector is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join its team in Odessa, Texas. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a background in manufacturing, machining, or quality assurance to join a growing organisation with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting inspections on incoming materials, work-in-progress components, and finished products to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections of components, assemblies, spare parts, and finished products.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Raise and process non-conformance reports (NCRs) and support corrective action activities.
- Assist with investigations relating to product quality and performance issues.
- Support engineering change implementation activities and associated inventory inspections.
- Complete inspection reports and quality documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain calibration records and assist with the control of inspection and test equipment.
- Carry out routine inspections of operational tooling and service equipment.
- Review manufacturing and supplier documentation to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the quality function.
Requirements
Essential
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a quality inspection, manufacturing, machining, or mechanical inspection environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in the use of precision measuring instruments, including:
- Calipers
- Micrometers (OD and ID)
- Depth gauges
- Thread inspection gauges
- Measuring tapes and scales
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Basic computer skills and experience maintaining inspection records.
- Good mathematical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred
- Experience within oil & gas, wellhead equipment, valves, pressure control equipment, or related manufacturing sectors.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and inspection procedures.
- Experience processing NCRs and supporting root cause investigations.
Working Environment
This position is based within a manufacturing and workshop environment and may involve:
- Exposure to machinery and moving mechanical equipment.
- Working in varying temperatures and environmental conditions.
- Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, and industrial worksite conditions.
- Standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the workday.
