The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available for a proven Quantity Surveyor to join one of our key clients operating from Abingdon. As Quantity Surveyor your role will be to support major infrastructure and decommissioning programmes, ensuring cost control, commercial efficiency, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
  • Deliver benchmarking exercises and feasibility assessments to validate project scope, cost assumptions, and viability
  • Develop and maintain detailed cost estimates, capturing materials, labour, programme durations, and resource requirements
  • Establish and manage project budgets, ensuring ongoing cost control and accurate financial forecasting
  • Play a key role in procurement, including drafting tender documentation, evaluating submissions, and advising on contract strategy
  • Lead commercial oversight on complex projects, ensuring best practice in cost management and contract administration
  • Administer NEC contracts, managing early warnings, variations, compensation events, and final account settlement
  • Review contractor valuations and payment applications, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and robust commercial challenge where required
  • Support risk management activities by identifying commercial risks, quantifying impact, and developing mitigation strategies
  • Provide strategic commercial advice to project stakeholders to drive efficiency and maximise value for money
  • Produce detailed cost reports, financial updates, and analysis to support informed decision-making
  • Maintain strong awareness of contract frameworks, regulatory requirements, and health and safety considerations
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance commercial processes and contract delivery

You will have the following qualifications & experience:
  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline, with chartered status (RICS or equivalent)
  • Strong experience operating at a senior level on projects typically exceeding £20m in value
  • Deep understanding of NEC contracts and proven capability in contract administration and dispute resolution
  • Solid knowledge of construction methods, commercial principles, and CDM regulations
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels

The setting for the role
Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licenced site. These can include, nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gasses, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high pressure circuits, steam, high noise and vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
