Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing Capital Projects team, providing cost management and commercial support across a portfolio of capital projects delivered under NEC4 contracts.
Job Overview
This role is pivotal in ensuring robust financial control, contractual compliance and value delivery across the full project lifecycle. Working within a Government contract environment, the Quantity Surveyor will support the successful delivery of multiple concurrent capital projects, maintaining high standards of commercial governance and reporting.
The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, clients and supply chain partners to achieve consistent, high‑quality commercial outcomes. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of the capital projects portfolio while enhancing best practice in cost management and NEC4 contract administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver end‑to‑end cost management across multiple capital projects operating under NEC4 contracts.
- Prepare, manage and report project budgets, forecasts, cost plans, CVRs and P&L performance against agreed targets.
- Administer NEC4 contracts, ensuring full compliance, proactive risk identification and effective commercial risk mitigation.
- Manage tendering and procurement activities, including tender documentation, bid evaluation, cost analysis and supplier negotiations.
- Oversee subcontractor procurement and contract management, including performance monitoring and commercial compliance.
- Review and certify applications for payment and prepare accurate interim and final valuations.
- Manage change control processes, including variations, compensation events and claims, with clear financial records.
- Provide clear commercial advice, reporting and stakeholder engagement with project managers, clients and senior management.
Person Specification
- Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Post‑qualification experience operating as a Quantity Surveyor.
- Experience within the Construction or Facilities Management industry, ideally within Government, Corporate or Education sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC4 contract administration.
- Proven experience in cost management, tendering, procurement and subcontractor management.
- Demonstrable experience managing multiple projects or programmes with a combined annual value of £5m+.
- Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills, with advanced Microsoft Excel capability.
- Proficiency in cost management systems such as Coupa (or equivalent), and a full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel to sites.
