Location: York or Manchester (3 days per week in the office)
Rate: £321/day Umbrella
Contract Length: 3 months +


A client organisation is seeking two Assistant Project Managers to support the successful delivery of major rail infrastructure projects. Working within a complex programme environment, you'll play a key role in coordinating project activities, managing stakeholders, supporting commercial functions and helping ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme objectives.


This position offers exposure to large-scale rail projects from development through to implementation and would suit an experienced project professional looking to further develop their career within a major infrastructure organisation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of major rail projects through development and implementation stages
  • Assist with project planning, reporting and governance activities
  • Support project safety management and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards
  • Manage and coordinate internal and external stakeholders
  • Support commercial and contract management activities
  • Monitor project risks, issues and opportunities
  • Assist with budget tracking, forecasting and financial reporting
  • Ensure project information is maintained accurately and communicated effectively
  • Support Project Managers in achieving programme milestones and delivery objectives


Essential Experience

  • Major rail project experience
  • Experience working on large infrastructure programmes
  • ·xperience supporting projects through both development and implementation phases
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Commercial awareness and contract management experience
  • Understanding of project safety management and construction health & safety legislation

Desirable Experience

  • Membership of the Association for Project Management (APM) or equivalent qualification
  • Knowledge of Network Rail investment regulations and governance processes
  • Experience working within a complex matrix organisation
  • Budget management and financial accountability experience
