Residential Support Worker – Children’s Home (EX1 Area)

We are currently recruiting Residential Support Workers (RSWs) to join a children’s residential home in the EX1 area. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people within a supportive, nurturing, and structured environment.
Salary & Benefits:
- £13.50–£14.00 per hour (dependent on qualifications)
- £50 sleep-in allowance per shift
- Full-time hours (based on approximately 12 shifts per month)
- 24-hour shifts, typically 2–3 per week (often back-to-back)
- Ongoing training and development opportunities
About the Role:
As a Residential Support Worker, you will support children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), many of whom have experienced trauma. You will play a key role in creating a safe, stable, and caring home environment, helping young people build positive relationships, develop life skills, and achieve their personal goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day care and emotional support
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Support behaviour management using a trauma-informed approach
- Promote education, health, and wellbeing
- Maintain accurate records and reports
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in children’s residential care is desirable
- We will also consider candidates with experience supporting individuals with high EBD needs
- A genuine passion for supporting young people
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is preferred

- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Flexibility to work shifts, including sleep-ins, weekends, and holidays
