Supply Star Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our Secondary School client in Birmingham who require a Temporary Science/Lab Technician to join their Science department. - To be considered for this role you MUST have worked in a school lab before.

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, organised, and enthusiastic Science / Laboratory Technician to support the delivery of practical science lessons across Key Stages 3–5. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing equipment and materials, maintaining laboratories, and ensuring a safe and effective learning environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, set up, and clear away equipment and materials for science practical lessons.
  • Support teachers with practical demonstrations and investigations.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure resources are stocked and organised.
  • Monitor and manage chemical, biological, and physical science materials in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Carry out routine safety checks and risk assessment procedures.
  • Assist with inventory control, ordering supplies, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Ensure laboratories, preparation rooms, and storage areas remain clean, safe, and compliant with regulations.
  • Support science enrichment activities, clubs, and school events where required.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Good standard of education, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Mathematics, and Science.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Previous experience working in a school, laboratory, or scientific environment.
