We are seeking a Primary SEND Teacher with QTS to lead a specialist Additional Resource Provision (SEND) class from September within a nurturing primary school in Sutton.
The Role
In this role, you will be the class teacher for a group of 8 pupils with Special Educational Needs. The class is mixed-age, with learners working significantly below age-related expectations, and learning is delivered through a highly personalised, ability-based approach.
You will be responsible for planning and delivering a play-based curriculum rooted in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), ensuring that learning is meaningful, accessible, and engaging. Teaching is carefully tailored to each pupil through individualised planning, with PLIMs ensuring that EHCP targets are consistently embedded across all areas of learning. The approach is highly collaborative, with a strong emphasis on teamwork between teaching staff, therapists, and support professionals to create a consistent, responsive learning environment where every pupil is supported to make progress at their own level.
The ideal teacher will have a confident, reflective approach to supporting pupils with special educational needs, including pre-verbal learners, and will be skilled in adapting learning to meet individual developmental stages.
The School
This small, friendly primary school is based in Carshalton and is easily accessible by both public transport and car. There is a strong community ethos and a highly inclusive culture, supported by an established leadership team who have developed a nurturing and supportive environment. The school benefits from an Additional Resource Provision that offers a highly child-centred approach for pupils with autism and complex learning needs.
Pupils make strong progress across the school, and there are excellent links with parents and the wider community. Staff benefit from a supportive leadership team and good opportunities for professional development.
This role also offers an excellent opportunity for career progression, with scope for increased responsibility within both the school and the wider academy trust over time.
This role is ideal if you have:
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of SEND
- A positive, enthusiastic and resilient approach
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team
