SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Plymouth and surrounding areas
Position Type: Full-time / Part-time (flexible opportunities available)
About the Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs in schools across Plymouth and the surrounding areas. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive impact on students’ learning, development, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with a range of SEN needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties)
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
- Provide 1:1 or small group support
- Help manage behaviour in line with school policies
- Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
- Support students’ emotional and social development
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (preferred but not essential)
- A caring, patient, and adaptable approach
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
Essential Criteria
- DBS on the Update Service (MANDATORY)
Desirable
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (due to travel between schools)
