SEMH Teaching Assistant - Ipswich | Full Time | June 1st Start

Tradewind Recruitment, proudly recognised as one of The Sunday Times Top 100 Companies to Work For, is currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a lovely mainstream primary school in Ipswich on a full-time basis.

This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated behavioural needs, helping them to engage positively with learning and thrive both academically and emotionally.

The school has a warm and welcoming feel, with a strong sense of community throughout. Staff are incredibly friendly, supportive, and passionate about creating a nurturing environment where every child feels valued. Despite being a mainstream primary school, it offers a close-knit, specialist-school atmosphere with excellent pastoral support and teamwork across the school.



The Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment


The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, behavioural needs, or additional support needs
  • Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to remain resilient and professional in challenging situations
  • Passionate about making a positive difference in children's lives
