About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate SENCO/Safeguarding Lead to join our dedicated team in a full-time position. Based at our client school in the B8 area, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) and ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and contribute to a positive, inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • SENCO Responsibilities:
    • Lead and manage the school's SEN provision, ensuring that students with SEN receive the appropriate support and interventions.
    • Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) for students with additional needs.
    • Conduct assessments to identify SEN and monitor the progress of students, ensuring that they are achieving their potential.
    • Provide training and guidance to staff on best practices for supporting students with SEN.
    • Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure holistic support for students with SEN
  • Leadership & Collaboration:
    • Work closely with senior leadership and pastoral teams to create a supportive and inclusive school environment.
    • Contribute to whole-school improvement initiatives, ensuring that SEN and safeguarding remain key priorities.
    • Lead and participate in multi-agency meetings to support the needs of students with complex and/or safeguarding concerns.
    • Foster a culture of safeguarding awareness and inclusivity throughout the school community.
Skills & Experience Required:
  • Qualified SENCO with a relevant SENCO qualification (or working towards it) and substantial experience working with students with a range of special educational needs.
  • A deep understanding of safeguarding legislation, child protection policies, and best practices in supporting vulnerable children.
  • Strong knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and experience in managing SEN provision.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, external agencies, and students.
  • Experience in providing staff training and professional development in both SEN and safeguarding areas.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and sensitivity.
