The Education Specialists are currently recruiting for an experienced and proactive SEND HLTA to work within a PRU-type setting in Manchester. This full-time, long-term position is available to start ASAP and offers a unique opportunity to take on a lead role within a supportive team environment.
This position will involve acting as a Lead Teaching Assistant for a significant portion of the day, while also providing classroom cover during teacher planning time and short-term absences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate a team of Teaching Assistants to support students with SEND and SEMH needs
- Deliver targeted interventions and structured learning activities to individuals and small groups
- Provide classroom cover when required, ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of the class teacher
- Support the implementation of behaviour management strategies in line with school policy
- Build strong, positive relationships with students to promote engagement and progress
- Work closely with teaching staff and senior leaders to support student outcomes
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold HLTA status or have significant experience in a similar role
- Have a strong background supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or within alternative provisions such as PRUs
- Be confident leading groups and managing classroom behaviour independently
- Demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills
- Be adaptable, resilient, and able to respond effectively to the needs of the setting
Desirable (but not essential):
- Team Teach training or similar behaviour management certification
- Experience covering lessons or delivering pre-planned work
