Immediate work is available for successful candidates, with significant growth in opportunities expected from September 2026 as increasing numbers of students require alternative provision support. We are actively building our team and can offer both ongoing and long-term opportunities.

Are you currently working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or SEND Support Worker and looking for a role that offers greater variety and flexibility?

Quantum Scholars is recruiting SEND Learning Support Assistants to support students accessing a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) and wider alternative provision services across Wokingham.

This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You will support students from a range of backgrounds who may have experienced difficulties in mainstream education. Some students will be based within a PRU setting, while others will require one-to-one tuition and support at home as they prepare to transition back into education.

The Role

This position combines learning support, mentoring and one-to-one tuition, allowing you to build positive relationships with students and help them achieve successful outcomes.

Students may present with:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Behavioural challenges
  • Trauma-related difficulties
  • Anxiety and emotionally based school avoidance
  • Medical needs
  • Additional learning needs

This role is particularly well suited to LSAs and TAs who enjoy working closely with students and would like a more varied role than a traditional classroom-based position. Opportunities are available from part-time hours through to full-time timetables.

  • Supporting students within a PRU environment
  • Delivering personalised 1:1 tuition and learning support
  • Providing mentoring and pastoral support
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with students

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, SEMH or behavioural needs
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence supporting students on a one-to-one basis
  • The ability to adapt to a range of student needs
  • A commitment to safeguarding and positive outcomes
