Learning Mentor - EOTAS Support

Hours: 2 x 3-hour sessions per week

Quantum Scholars are looking for an experienced and supportive Learning Mentor to work with two separate young people who are currently educated other than at school (EOTAS).

This is a flexible, part-time role providing individual support to help each young person develop confidence, independence, life skills and engagement with learning. The successful person will need to be patient, reliable and able to build positive relationships with young people who may require a more personalised and nurturing approach.

One young person will require support focused mainly on life skills, confidence in the community, using public transport and developing independence. The other young person will need support with some academic work, alongside life skills and general mentoring support.

The role will involve:

  • Providing 2 x 3-hour mentoring sessions per week

  • Supporting two separate young people on an individual basis

  • Helping young people develop confidence, independence and positive routines

  • Supporting life skills, including community access and use of public transport

  • Providing gentle support with academic work where required

  • Encouraging engagement, communication and motivation

  • Adapting support to meet each young person's individual needs

  • Liaising with Quantum Scholars and relevant professionals as needed

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working as a Learning Mentor or in a similar role

  • Experience supporting young people with additional needs, barriers to education or EOTAS provision

  • A calm, patient and encouraging approach

  • Confidence supporting life skills and independence-building activities

  • The ability to support basic academic work where needed

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with young people

  • Flexibility around days and times

  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries

This role would suit an experienced Learning Mentor, Youth Worker, Teaching Assistant, SEND Support Worker or someone with strong experience supporting young people outside of mainstream education.
