Jackson Hogg are delighted to be partnering with a leading manufacturing business to appoint a Shipping Clerk on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established organisation and play a key role in ensuring the smooth and compliant movement of goods across global markets.
The Role
As Shipping Clerk, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end shipping and export documentation process, ensuring all goods are dispatched accurately, on time, and in line with international regulations.
You will work closely with internal teams, freight forwarders, and customers to coordinate shipments and ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including the transportation of dangerous goods.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process all shipping and export documentation for international shipments (air, sea, and road)
- Ensure full compliance with customs regulations and country-specific requirements
- Manage shipments in line with Incoterms and agreed customer delivery terms
- Coordinate bookings with freight forwarders and arrange collections
- Produce and review documentation for Dangerous Goods shipments in line with IATA, ADR, and IMDG regulations
- Liaise with warehouse and dispatch teams to ensure goods are correctly labelled, packed, and shipped
- Work closely with customer service teams to ensure timely order fulfilment and resolve any shipping issues
- Provide accurate shipment information and documentation to support customs clearance and invoicing processes
- Manage courier shipments (e.g. DHL, FedEx) for smaller consignments and samples
- Support with additional export documentation (e.g. COO, EUR1, etc.) as required
About You
- Previous experience within a shipping, logistics, or import/export role
- Exposure to or knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations (IATA, ADR, IMDG)
- Strong understanding of international shipping documentation and customs processes
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise across internal teams and external partners
