We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the day-to-day delivery of a prison construction project. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing site operations, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining health and safety standards, and ensuring works are delivered on programme and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily site operations and construction activities.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, labour, and site logistics.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Monitor progress against programme and address any delays.
  • Review and implement RAMS and site documentation.
  • Conduct site inspections and toolbox talks.
  • Liaise with the client, project team, and subcontractors.
  • Maintain accurate site records and reports.
  • Manage snagging and quality assurance processes.
  • Ensure compliance with project-specific security requirements.

Essential Requirements

  • Black CSCS Card (Management Level) – mandatory.
  • SMSTS – mandatory.
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods and UK Health & Safety regulations.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and site teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Requirements

  • First Aid at Work.
  • Experience on prison, defence, healthcare, or other secure/public-sector projects.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor training.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Construction Management or a related discipline.

Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the project, successful candidates may be required to undergo enhanced security vetting and comply with all prison security protocols.

Applicants must hold a valid Black CSCS Card and SMSTS certification and have previous Site Management experience within the construction industry.
