The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading international infrastructure and construction business, supporting the delivery of major projects across the UK. Due to ongoing project demand and growth, they are looking to appoint a Works Manager to take ownership of site operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high quality delivery.
You will play a critical leadership role on site, managing teams, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Your duties and responsibilities will be
  • Take overall responsibility for the safe delivery and performance of site operations on major projects
  • Lead and coordinate site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to meet programme and production targets
  • Ensure all works are delivered in line with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
  • Plan and manage materials, plant, and equipment across the site
  • Carry out regular site inspections and ensure compliance with method statements and risk assessments
  • Support project planning activities including work programmes and method statements
  • Lead toolbox talks, task briefings, and promote safe systems of work
  • Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and performance
  • Collaborate with project teams to support delivery, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support investigations and close out of incidents, near misses, and safety concerns

You will have the following qualifications & experience:
  • Proven experience in a Works Manager or similar role within civil engineering, infrastructure, rail, or major construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of site operations, project delivery, and construction methods
  • SMSTS and CSCS certification
  • Solid understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards
  • Ability to lead teams and drive performance on site
  • Experience working collaboratively with project teams and stakeholders

It’s great if you also have the following
  • Experience on major structures, rail, or highways projects
  • NVQ Level 3 or 4 or equivalent qualification
  • Knowledge of risk management, commercial awareness, and project controls
  • Experience using construction management systems such as Themis or similar
  • Strong problem solving and continuous improvement mindset

This role is site based, working on major infrastructure and construction projects within a collaborative and fast paced environment. You will be working closely with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders, playing a key role in ensuring successful project delivery while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
