The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading international infrastructure and construction business, supporting the delivery of major projects across the UK. Due to ongoing project demand and growth, they are looking to appoint a Works Manager to take ownership of site operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high quality delivery.
You will play a critical leadership role on site, managing teams, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Your duties and responsibilities will be
- Take overall responsibility for the safe delivery and performance of site operations on major projects
- Lead and coordinate site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to meet programme and production targets
- Ensure all works are delivered in line with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
- Plan and manage materials, plant, and equipment across the site
- Carry out regular site inspections and ensure compliance with method statements and risk assessments
- Support project planning activities including work programmes and method statements
- Lead toolbox talks, task briefings, and promote safe systems of work
- Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and performance
- Collaborate with project teams to support delivery, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support investigations and close out of incidents, near misses, and safety concerns
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
- Proven experience in a Works Manager or similar role within civil engineering, infrastructure, rail, or major construction projects
- Strong knowledge of site operations, project delivery, and construction methods
- SMSTS and CSCS certification
- Solid understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards
- Ability to lead teams and drive performance on site
- Experience working collaboratively with project teams and stakeholders
It’s great if you also have the following
- Experience on major structures, rail, or highways projects
- NVQ Level 3 or 4 or equivalent qualification
- Knowledge of risk management, commercial awareness, and project controls
- Experience using construction management systems such as Themis or similar
- Strong problem solving and continuous improvement mindset

This role is site based, working on major infrastructure and construction projects within a collaborative and fast paced environment. You will be working closely with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders, playing a key role in ensuring successful project delivery while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
