A day in the life of a Murphy Skills, Employment & Education Advisor
Education & Community Engagement
- Create and deliver engaging sessions for primary schools, secondary schools and colleges across Kent and Essex, promoting the Lower Thames Crossing, the construction sector and essential employability skills.
- Attend school-led events—including careers fairs, mock interviews, workshops and assemblies—to represent the project and inspire young people.
- Organise and host site visits for local students, teachers and community groups to provide first-hand insight into the project.
- Host and coordinate work experience placements for local students, ensuring meaningful insight into the construction and infrastructure industry.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local schools, colleges, training providers, employment brokerages and community organisations, demonstrating sensitivity to differing community perspectives on the project.
- Attend external events and represent the organisation professionally while networking with key partners and stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with joint venture partners (Balfour Beatty, Skanska) to ensure consistent and aligned delivery across the programme.
Volunteer Coordination
- Recruit, brief and support project volunteers to participate in education and skills events.
Internal Collaboration
- Act as a key and active member of the wider People & Culture Team, contributing to shared goals and supporting the delivery of the project’s social value commitments.
