The Opportunity We are currently supporting a leading aerospace manufacturing organisation in Tewkesbury in the search for an experienced Skilled Sliding Head CNC Machinist to join their high-performing precision engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set and operate Star Sliding Head CNC lathes
  • Manufacture precision aerospace components to tight tolerances and exacting quality standards
  • Conduct in-process inspection and self-certification using manual and automated metrology equipment
  • Interpret engineering drawings, inspection plans, and technical documentation
  • Support continuous improvement and problem-solving activities across manufacturing operations
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles including 5S and standardised working practices
  • Carry out basic preventative maintenance and machine care activities
About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
  • Proven experience setting and operating sliding head lathes (Star machinery preferred)
  • A completed engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
  • Experience working within a precision engineering or aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of machining to tight tolerances
  • Competence using a range of inspection and measurement equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings in both metric and imperial
  • Good understanding of GD&T principles
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work proactively and independently
  • A positive team-focused attitude and commitment to quality
Shift Pattern (2-Week Rotating Shift)

AM Shift
  • Monday – Thursday: 06:00 – 14:15
  • Friday: 06:15 – 11:45
PM Shift
  • Monday – Tuesday: 14:00 – 21:15
  • Wednesday – Thursday: 14:00 – 21:30
  • Friday: 11:30 – 19:30
