Sous Chef

Remedicare Staffing are seeking an experienced and dedicated Chef to join the catering team at a modern, purpose-built elderly Care Home in the Harrogate area. The core responsibilities will be to deliver high quality, fresh, home cooked meals for the residents, working in an extremely rewarding setting.

• £16.00 per hour
• 7:30am-5:30pm shifts
• 40 hours per week

This is a full time, permanent Sous Chef role within an established company paying a fantastic £16.00 per hour! This is working 40 hours per week (7:30am-5:30pm shifts) and you will have the support of at least 1 Kitchen Assistant or Chef on each shift.

This role is working in a modern, purpose-built bedded Elderly Home that is a part of an award-winning company that has a strong history of supporting and developing their staff. Sous Chef candidates will ideally have a valid Food Hygiene Certificate and previous experience of working in a Care Home, School or similar environment would be advantageous but is not essential.

A good understanding of Health and Safety and COSHH guidelines is required within the Chef role. Qualifications within catering and hospitality such as City & Guilds 706/1+2, Professional Cookery or Catering would be looked upon favourably but are not essential. Dysphagia / IDDSI knowledge would be welcomed.

Care Home Sous Chef Main Duties:

• Responsibility for the catering services within the Home on the days that the Head Chef is not working
• Cook using fresh ingredients made from scratch as much as possible
• Prepare daily meals, paying particular attention to any special dietary requirements
• Have a full understanding of Health & Safety as well as Food Hygiene issues, COSHH, and working within the guidelines relating to cross infection
