About the Role
Tradewind Recruitment is looking for a passionate, patient, and creative Reception Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Leigh. Starting in September 2026, this full-time, ongoing role is perfect for someone who loves the energy of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and wants to make a lasting impact on children starting their school journey.
As a Reception TA, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and stimulating environment where four and five-year-olds can learn through play, build confidence, and develop essential social and academic skills.
Key Responsibilities
Support the class teacher in delivering the EYFS curriculum, focusing on early literacy, phonics, and numeracy.
Assist with the setup and management of engaging indoor and outdoor continuous provision activities.
Work 1:1 and with small groups to support speech and language development and social interaction.
Help manage classroom behaviour using positive reinforcement and nurturing guidance.
Observe and record pupil progress, contributing to EYFS profiles and learning journeys.
Ensure the safety, well-being, and personal care needs of the children are met throughout the day.
What We Are Looking For
Previous experience working within an EYFS setting (Private Nursery or Primary School Reception/Nursery class).
A strong understanding of the EYFS framework and the importance of play-based learning.
A warm, nurturing, and patient demeanour with a genuine love for working with early years children.
Excellent communication skills to connect effectively with young children, colleagues, and parents.
An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one through Tradewind).
