1. Purpose of the job

The role of a Transport and Compliance Manager is to deliver an efficient, legal and punctual delivery service to all clients. To also ensure all vehicles are legal to use through a system of planned inspections and maintenance. To also manage all Proserve’s MHE are legal to use through a system of planned inspections and maintenance.

2. Main accountabilities

  • Maintaining high levels of health & safety standards, including but not limited to closing out all actions from health and safety action plan from third partys H and S compliance supplier for each appropriate site which may not be limited to the site you are overseeing.
  • Working efficiently and effectively as part of a team
  • Achieving the targets and job standards set out by Directors
  • Completing any reasonable task/request from Directors
  • Follow communication procedures, guidelines, and policies including those that are critical to product safety, legality, quality or integrity.
  • Understands and meets the expectations as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Understands the sexual harassment policy, preventative measures the organisation undertakes and the importance of a respectful workplace.
  • Promotes an inclusive work environment and ensures all working relationships are maintained with dignity and respect.
  • To ensure Fleet is always legal and compliant and records kept.
  • To ensure HGV team are legal and compliant and records kept.
  • To Ensure MHE fleet is always legal and compliant and records kept.
  • To oversee the company’s compliance to FORS.
  • To continuously improve the company’s current processes to streamline and reduce costs.

3. Context

Office based but inspections of vehicles and MHE is essential.   

4. Dimensions

  • Ensure company compliance to FORS Bronze accreditation, lead audits and carry out any reviews necessary.
  • Monitor workflow, productivity, and KPIs.
  • Approve supplier invoices related to vehicle and MHE compliance and repairs.
  • Co-ordinating and prioritising vehicle and MHE planned maintenance and repairs.
  • Monitor and reduce operational costs while maintaining service levels.
  • Liaise with accounts, customer service and transport teams.
  • Ensure all driver’s licence checks are completed and on file.
  • Ensure any Driver breaches are investigated and communicated.
  • Follow internal cost approval procedures.
  • Ensure records for all HGV and Driver compliance are kept up to date and accessible.
  • Ensure workforce MHE licences are compliant, are kept up to date and recorded.
  • Keep training material for HGV and Driver compliance up to date, trained out with records kept.

6. Knowledge and experience required (job specification)

To work under pressure in a very busy environment.

Must have experience in Fleet Management.

Must have good computer skills.

Must Hold Valid CPC.

Must be able to be the named person on the company’s O licence.

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.

Positive attitude and a team player.

Must be punctual and have a good attendance record.

Have experience in a warehouse setting.

Have good standards of numeracy.
