1:1 Learning Support Assistant

Academics are currently recruiting a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work with a pupil in a Primary School in the Dinas Powys area. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced LSA who has a strong background supporting children with ALN and behavioural needs.
The role is due to start as soon as possible and is a long-term position, working 3 days per week.
The Role
As a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to a pupil, helping them to access learning and feel confident and settled within the school environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil throughout the school day
- Supporting a child with ALN and behavioural needs
- Helping the pupil access classroom learning and activities
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Building a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil
- Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement
- Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team
- Supporting social and emotional development
- Adapting activities and approaches to meet the pupil's individual needs
- Following individual support plans and behaviour strategies
- Maintaining a calm, positive and nurturing environment
- Following safeguarding and school policies at all times
We're Looking For
The successful 1:1 Learning Support Assistant will have:
- Previous experience supporting children with ALN/SEN
- Strong experience supporting children with behavioural needs
- Previous experience working in a primary school setting
- The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Availability to work 3 days per week
- A commitment to a long-term role in the Dinas Powys area
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS
- EWC registration
- Previous experience working with children
- Relevant safeguarding and compliance checks
- Right to work in the UK
