Pay: £95 - £110 per day

About the Role:

Vocational Recruitment is working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive primary school in Bethnal Green, Tower Hamlets, to appoint a dedicated and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a full-time role starting in September 2026.

This long-term opportunity involves providing dedicated one-to-one support for a Key Stage 2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), who presents with social, emotional, and behavioural needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping the pupil access learning, manage emotions, develop positive relationships, and achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

The school is seeking a confident and proactive Teaching Assistant who has experience supporting pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate will be a positive role model who can build strong relationships, maintain consistent boundaries, and support the pupil with patience and understanding.

Key Responsibilities for the 1:1 Teaching Assistant role:

  • Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a KS2 pupil with ASD
  • Support the pupil in accessing classroom learning and school routines
  • Implement strategies outlined within the pupil's EHCP
  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour management
  • Build a trusting and positive relationship with the pupil
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and external professionals
  • Encourage social interaction, independence, and confidence
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Requirements for the 1:1 Teaching Assistant role:

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with ASD (essential)
  • Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and emotional needs
  • Good understanding of EHCPs and SEND support strategies
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Ability to act as a positive role model for young people
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
