Are you a compassionate, vigilant, and dedicated educator looking to make a profound difference in a child’s life? A welcoming mainstream primary school on the Wirral is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to support a wonderful, bright young girl in Key Stage 1.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives on building strong therapeutic relationships and providing both physical and communication support to ensure a child can fully access their education.
Key Responsibilities

Mobility & Physical Support: Assist the pupil in navigating both indoor and outdoor classroom environments safely. You will help her use a specialized chair within the classroom and a walker while out on the playground.

Communication Partner: Support her non-verbal communication by utilizing her AAC device and Makaton signs, helping her express her needs and engage with peers.

Safety & Supervision: Maintain constant, vigilant supervision to prevent accidents and ensure her safety throughout the school day.

Personal Care: Provide gentle and dignified support with personal care, specifically assisting her with pulling her clothing up and down during toileting.

Mealtime Safety: Ensure her food is prepared safely (cut into 1cm chunks) and monitor her closely during lunch and snack times due to choking risks.
What We Are Looking For

Experience: Previous experience working with Key Stage 1 children, ideally within an SEN or 1:1 capacity.

Skills: Knowledge of or training in Makaton and AAC communication devices is highly desirable.

Attributes: A patient, proactive, and exceptionally observant nature. You should be physically able to assist with mobility aids and comfortable providing personal care.

Commitment: A reliable individual who understands the importance of consistency for a child with complex needs.
