We are recruiting for a 1st Line Helpdesk Engineer to join a growing IT services team based in Basildon.

This is a great opportunity for someone with previous 1st Line IT Support or Helpdesk experience who enjoys troubleshooting, helping users and providing excellent customer service.

The role will be office-based 5 days a week during the first 3 months. Following successful completion of probation, the role will move to a hybrid working pattern with 2 days working from home.

The Role

As a 1st Line Helpdesk Engineer, you will be the first point of contact for users experiencing IT issues. You will provide support via phone, email and remote access, diagnosing and resolving issues where possible and escalating more complex problems to the wider technical team.

You will support users across Windows and Microsoft Office 365, maintain IT documentation and knowledge bases, and provide a professional and customer-focused service at all times. The role will also involve participating in an on-call rota providing 24-hour support.

About You

We are looking for someone with previous experience in a 1st Line Support or Helpdesk role, with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

You should have a good understanding of Windows 7/10/11 and Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, Group Policy and Office 365, including Exchange, OneDrive and SharePoint. A basic understanding of Azure and networking principles such as DNS, DHCP and IP addressing is also required.

Experience with antivirus solutions such as Sophos would be beneficial, as would previous experience supporting Mac environments.

You will need to be confident communicating with customers, well organised and able to prioritise your workload. Most importantly, you will have a genuine interest in providing a great IT support service and helping users resolve their technical issues.
