TeacherActive is looking for patient, resilient and engaging Online 1:1 Tutors to support young people across Leicester City who are currently receiving education outside of a mainstream school setting.

The pupils we support may have Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs, display challenging behaviour, have experienced permanent exclusion, or have become disengaged from education.

As an Online 1:1 Tutor, you'll provide individual tuition remotely, helping pupils rebuild their confidence, develop positive relationships with learning and make academic progress.

This role is about much more than simply delivering lessons. We're looking for tutors who can build trust, maintain engagement and adapt their approach to pupils who may have had difficult experiences within education.

The successful Online Tutor will have:

• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
• Experience working with pupils who have experienced permanent exclusion
• Previous teaching, tutoring, SEND or alternative provision experience
• Confidence delivering engaging 1:1 sessions online
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• The ability to adapt learning around individual needs and abilities
• A calm, patient and resilient approach
• Strong safeguarding awareness
• Access to a reliable computer/laptop and internet connection

Your role could include:

• Delivering personalised 1:1 online tuition
• Supporting pupils with core subjects including English and Maths
• Re-engaging young people who have become disengaged from education
• Creating interactive and accessible online sessions
• Adapting activities around the pupil's interests, ability and SEMH needs
• Establishing clear expectations and consistent boundaries
• Supporting pupils to develop confidence and positive attitudes towards learning
• Recording attendance, engagement and academic progress
• Providing regular feedback to relevant professionals
