Syntech Recruitment are recruiting an Account Manager for an established UK manufacturing business.

If you enjoy looking after customers but don’t want to carry a sales number, this one’s worth a look. You’ll be the main point of contact for a group of business customers across the UK. You’ll get to know them well, keep them happy and make sure nothing slips through the cracks. Winning new business sits with the sales team. Your job is keeping existing customers close.

Account Manager Responsibilities

Be the go-to contact for your customers, staying in touch on a regular schedule

Get to know everyone who matters at each customer, from the shop floor to the boardroom

Set up and run periodic catch-ups with customers, then make sure what’s agreed actually happens

Pick up early warning signs, such as unhappy customers or orders dropping off, and flag them quickly

Know what each customer normally needs and when, and follow up if orders don’t come through as expected

Pass any new business leads you uncover to the sales team

Keep notes and customer details up to date on the CRM

Get out to see customers face to face now and then

Account Manager Requirements

Experience looking after business customers, with an engineering or manufacturing background a plus

A background in account management, client services or a similar customer-facing role

Comfortable working in a CRM system

Organised and thorough, and you don’t let things drop

Happy to run a customer meeting and present to a room

Exposure to quality-accredited environments would help

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Good standard of education, including English and Maths
