Accounts Administrator

Hays Senior Finance

Your new company
A well-established Lancashire-based organisation is seeking an Accounts Administrator to join its finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join a supportive, friendly team and gain exposure to a broad range of finance responsibilities.

Your new role
In your new role as Accounts Administrator, you will have a strong payroll and transactional accounts focus, supporting the Payroll Officer with the administration of a monthly payroll for approximately 265 employees. Responsibilities will include processing clock cards, calculating overtime, payroll reconciliations and liaising with managers to ensure payroll information is accurate and submitted on time. Alongside payroll duties, you will gain exposure to a broad range of finance tasks including reporting, P&L reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and assisting with accounts preparation through to trial balance.

What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have previous payroll experience, ideally gained within a finance environment, alongside strong all-round transactional accounting skills. This position would suit an experienced Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or Bookkeeper who enjoys a varied workload and is looking to further develop their finance career. Good Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables, will be advantageous. The finance team is known for its friendly, open and collaborative culture, with a relaxed atmosphere where colleagues work hard but enjoy a strong social side. The role is fully office-based in Preston, with occasional travel (one day per week during the first 6 weeks) to their other Lancashire based site during the initial training period. Flexible start and finish times are available around core working hours, offering a good level of flexibility whilst maintaining a strong team presence in the office.

What you'll get in return
In return, the business offers a salary of up to £38,000, annual salary reviews, an excellent benefits package and the opportunity to join a stable and well-respected organisation. Whilst this role is offered on a 12-month fixed-term basis and permanency cannot be guaranteed, it presents an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience within a supportive finance team. Holidays will be 27 days plus bank holidays, with a 5% pension, company sick pay scheme, onsite car parking, role specific training and a list of employment benefits.
