Accounts Assistant

We are currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join a growing accountancy practice. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their accounting career and gain hands-on experience across bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, and accounts preparation.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior accountants and clients, supporting the day-to-day accounting function while continuing to build their technical knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing bookkeeping records for a range of clients
- Assisting with VAT returns
- Processing invoices, receipts, and payments
- Bank reconciliations
- Supporting payroll processing
- Assisting with the preparation of year-end accounts
- Using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or Excel
- Liaising with clients to request information and resolve queries
- Supporting senior team members with ad hoc accounting tasks
Requirements:
- Previous experience in an accounting or finance role is beneficial
- AAT studier, graduate, or someone with practical accounting training will be considered
- Good understanding of bookkeeping and basic accounting principles
- Confident using Excel
- Knowledge of Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks would be an advantage
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Willingness to learn and develop within accountancy
