Accounts Assistant

Hays Senior Finance

Your new company
I am working with a well-established and internationally recognised manufacturing organisation, based in Burnley to recruit an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their team. Operating within a specialist engineering sector, they supply products to customers across global markets and continue to invest in their people, processes and future growth.

Your new role
In your new role as Accounts Assistant, you'll support the day-to-day running of the finance function across both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities. You'll be responsible for processing sales and purchase invoices, managing customer and supplier accounts, carrying out credit control activities, allocating receipts, resolving account queries and ensuring transactions are processed accurately and efficiently. You'll also support supplier payment runs, maintain account records and work closely with both internal departments and external stakeholders to investigate and resolve discrepancies. Alongside transactional finance duties, you'll assist with month-end activities, including reconciliations, reporting and maintaining intercompany balances. The role offers excellent variety, providing exposure to wider finance functions whilst contributing to process improvements and supporting the continued efficiency of the department.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit Control or wider finance support role. You'll possess strong numerical accuracy, excellent attention to detail and good communication skills, with the confidence to build effective relationships across the business. Experience using ERP systems and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel would be advantageous.

What you'll get in return
In return, you'll be joining a growing and highly respected organisation that genuinely invests in its people. They will offer a salary of £30,000 alongside generous holiday entitlement, a discretionary bonus scheme, pension contributions, healthcare benefits, employee wellbeing support and genuine opportunities for long-term career development.
