We are looking for an organised and detail-focused Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team. This role will primarily support the day-to-day management of the sales ledger and credit control function, ensuring customer accounts are maintained accurately, payments are allocated correctly and financial records remain up to date.  Working closely with colleagues across Finance and Commercial, you'll play an important part in maintaining healthy cash flow, resolving customer account queries and supporting the smooth running of the finance department.

  • Monday – Friday, 7.5 hours a day that must be worked between 8am – 6pm.
  • Hybrid, 3 days per week and 2 days working from home

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the sales ledger, ensuring customer accounts are accurate and up to date.
  • Allocate incoming payments and carry out regular account reconciliations.
  • Process credit notes, pro-forma invoices and other sales ledger documentation.
  • Liaise with finance and leasing providers, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and records are reconciled.
  • Respond to customer account and statement enquiries, investigating and resolving discrepancies where required.
  • Produce aged debt reports and assist with debtor analysis.
  • Prepare information for regular credit review meetings and support discussions regarding outstanding accounts.
  • Work closely with the Commercial team to monitor customer credit limits and overdue payments.
  • Reconcile customer receipts between bank statements and the ERP system.
  • Provide support to the purchase ledger function when required.
  • Assist with general finance administration and other accounting tasks to support the wider Finance team.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience within an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Sales Ledger or Credit Control role.
  • Experience using an ERP or accounting software package.
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent numerical accuracy.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities.
  • Confident communicator with a professional and customer-focused approach.

Desirable

  • AAT qualification (or studying towards one).
  • Experience working with finance or leasing companies.
