Location: Caterham
Salary: £28,000 – £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Benefits: 22 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, 35 hour working week - Monday to Friday with flexible working hours between 8:00am and 6:00pm.
Job Purpose
This is a standalone accounts role offering genuine responsibility and autonomy, making it ideal for an experienced accounts professional who enjoys managing the full finance process within a busy SME environment. Reporting directly to senior management and working closely with the company's external accountants, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the accounts function. You'll ensure accurate financial records are maintained, process high volumes of transactions and provide reliable financial information to support the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and reconcile high volumes of financial transactions.
- Manage reconciliations across online payment platforms, including PayPal, Stripe, Klarna and similar providers.
- Resolve historic reconciliation issues and investigate discrepancies.
- Chase outstanding payments and accurately allocate incoming funds.
- Prepare accounts to trial balance for the external accountants.
- Support month-end and year-end accounting processes.
- Produce financial reports, sales summaries and management information.
- Maintain accurate financial records across multiple revenue streams.
- Take ownership of the day-to-day accounts function, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and financial integrity.
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeper or similar accounts position.
- Strong working knowledge of Xero (essential).
- Experience managing high-volume transaction processing and reconciliations.
- Previous experience within a construction, trades, engineering, manufacturing, renewables or similar product-based business would be highly advantageous.
- Experience processing invoices for trade customers, wholesalers, installers or merchants would be highly desirable.
- Familiarity with online payment platforms such as PayPal, Stripe, Klarna or similar would be an advantage.
- Excellent attention to detail with a methodical approach.
- The ability to work independently and confidently manage your own workload.
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
