Term Time Contracts
This contract offers full-time hours across 37 weeks of the year, primarily during term time. You will be required to work during the academic terms, with some additional duties outside of term time as needed. This structure provides a balance between a full-time role and flexibility during non-term periods.
The Opportunity
The role is for an enthusiastic, organised and approachable Receptionist/Administrative Assistant at Barnsley Sixth Form College. You’ll provide a warm, professional first point of contact for students, staff, visitors and callers, while providing reliable administrative support to help the department run smoothly.
Key duties include managing reception and enquiries, maintaining accurate records and filing systems, preparing documents and reports, taking meeting minutes, managing diaries and post, supporting college processes, and carrying out general clerical tasks. The role requires flexibility, attention to detail and a strong commitment to providing an efficient, professional service.
About You
The successful candidate will be friendly, confident, and able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people. You will have strong organisational skills good attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks in a busy college environment.
You will be comfortable using IT systems handling confidential information appropriately and working as part of a team to provide excellent support to student, staff, and visitors.

Required
- NVQ Level 2 in Business Admin (or willingness to work towards)
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2 qualification)
- 2 years’ experience of clerical work
- Good level of computer literacy, including familiarity with Windows based software including PowerPoint presentations
