The Admitting Clerk plays a crucial role as the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a smooth and efficient admission process. This position is responsible for accurate patient registration, data management, and providing exceptional administrative support. You will contribute significantly to patient satisfaction and the overall operational efficiency of our facility, operating with a high degree of precision and professionalism.
- Register new and returning patients accurately, collecting all necessary demographic and medical information.
- Verify patient insurance details and eligibility, liaising with insurance providers as required.
- Process co-payments and other fees, maintaining precise financial records.
- Maintain and update patient records, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality in line with UK GDPR.
- Provide compassionate and clear communication to patients regarding their appointments, procedures, and facility policies.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, managing appointment calendars effectively.
- Adhere strictly to all data protection, privacy, and health and safety regulations.
- Handle patient inquiries and resolve administrative issues efficiently and professionally.
- Proven ability to demonstrate strong adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a patient-focused approach.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including word processing and data entry.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality and discretion.
- Demonstrable experience in an administrative or customer service role.
- Previous experience in a healthcare administrative setting.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and patient management systems.
- Experience with insurance verification processes.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Patient Management Systems (specific system training will be provided)
- Standard office equipment (multi-line phone systems, scanners, printers)
