AEM - Hairpin Manufacturing Operative - Luton

The Role

As a Hairpin Manufacturing Operative, you will manufacture and inspect precision copper hairpin components to customer specifications and aerospace quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture copper hairpin components using workshop tools and machinery to achieve specified tolerances.
  • Use pillar drills and associated equipment to remove copper enamel in accordance with customer drawings and specifications.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions.
  • Carry out quality inspections using verniers, Go/No-Go gauges and other measuring equipment.
  • Bag, label and prepare completed components for dispatch.
  • Complete all manufacturing activities in accordance with customer requirements and quality standards.
  • Highlight any production, process or quality issues to the Line Manager and/or Quality Manager.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and complete daily 5S activities.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely, accurately and efficiently.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Experience within a manufacturing, production, assembly or engineering environment.
  • Ability to read and follow technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers and gauges.
  • Good manual dexterity and practical workshop skills.
  • Reliable, proactive and hardworking attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Desirable

  • Experience working with copper components or metal fabrication.
  • Aerospace, automotive, defence or precision engineering experience.
  • Previous machine operating experience.
  • Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience working to tight tolerances and quality standards.
