Air and Road Freight Operator Shifts

I'm recruiting on behalf of a global logistics organisation with an outstanding reputation for delivering time-critical freight solutions across international markets. Operating through an extensive worldwide network and supporting customers in highly regulated industries, they're continuing to invest in their UK operations and are looking to strengthen their night shift team. The business has decades of experience in international freight forwarding and supports customers with complex global supply chains, specialist customs services and expedited transport solutions.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with an air freight bias who also has exposure to road freight operations and thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

The Role

Working as part of a specialist operations team, you'll be responsible for managing both import and export shipments, with a particular focus on exports for a key aerospace customer. This is a highly operational role where attention to detail, urgency and excellent communication are essential.

You'll also play a vital role in coordinating Aircraft on Ground (AOG) shipments, ensuring critical aircraft parts and components are moved as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing air freight import and export shipments from booking through to delivery
• Coordinating UK and European road freight movements
• Handling urgent AOG shipments with speed and precision
• Completing customs clearances and ensuring full compliance
• Liaising with airlines, hauliers, overseas partners and customs authorities
• Monitoring shipments and providing proactive updates to customers
• Preparing and checking all freight documentation
• Resolving operational issues and ensuring service levels are consistently achieved
  
  

What We're looking for

• Previous experience within air freight operations (imports and exports)
• Exposure to road freight operations
• Experience completing customs clearances
• Knowledge of AOG or other time-critical freight is highly advantageous
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise urgent shipments
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and work independently on night shifts
