Location: Cardiff and South Wales
Salary: £40,000–£45,000, depending on experience
Employment type: Full-time, permanent

The Opportunity

Valoris Group is recruiting an experienced Air Source Heat Pump Service and Breakdown Engineer on behalf of an established renewable heating specialist based in Cardiff.

The company designs, installs, services and maintains domestic air and ground source heat pump systems throughout South Wales. Due to continued growth, it is looking to expand its experienced team of nine engineers.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable, specialist business offering a strong salary, a consistent workload and the chance to develop your expertise within the growing renewable heating sector.

The Role

You will focus primarily on servicing, fault-finding and repairing air source heat pump systems within private domestic properties across Cardiff and South Wales.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Servicing and maintaining domestic air source heat pump systems
  • Diagnosing faults and completing effective breakdown repairs
  • Checking electrical components, hydraulics, controls and overall system performance
  • Investigating issues involving circulation, flow temperatures, cylinders and system pressure
  • Replacing defective components and identifying any required follow-up work
  • Completing accurate service records while providing clear advice to homeowners

You will manage a mixture of planned and reactive visits, working independently while receiving support from the company’s technical and installation teams when required.

All work must be completed safely, professionally and in accordance with relevant industry standards.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience servicing or repairing air source heat pumps
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Good knowledge of domestic heating and hot-water systems
  • Experience with heating controls, pumps, cylinders and associated components
  • Relevant plumbing, heating or renewable-energy qualifications
  • Full UK driving licence

You should be organised, comfortable managing your own workload and able to communicate professionally with customers in their homes.

Applications may also be considered from experienced domestic heating or gas service engineers who have practical heat pump experience and want to develop further within renewable heating.

Desirable Experience

  • BPEC, LCL Awards or an equivalent heat pump qualification
  • Manufacturer training across recognised heat pump brands
  • Experience with Vaillant air source heat pump systems
  • F-Gas, unvented hot-water or relevant domestic gas qualifications
  • Previous heat pump commissioning or installation experience

Not every desirable qualification is essential. The company is flexible on background where an applicant can demonstrate strong heating knowledge, practical heat pump experience and excellent diagnostic ability.

Why Apply?

You will join an established renewable heating company with a strong presence across South Wales and an experienced engineering team already in place.

The position offers a salary of £40,000–£45,000, permanent employment and the opportunity to focus on specialist service and breakdown work within a high-demand sector.

This is an ideal move for a capable heating engineer who takes pride in solving technical problems, delivering excellent customer service and keeping renewable heating systems operating safely and efficiently.
