Airfield Lighting Assistant (Shift)
Full Time, Permanent
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 + Shift Allowance
Shift Pattern: 4 Early Shifts (6am-3pm), 2 Days Off | 4 Late Shifts (3pm-12am) 2 Days Off.
Following late shifts, there is an on-call requirement between 00:00 and 06:00 on a rotational basis.

Our client, a leading provider of integrated facilities management and infrastructure solutions, is hiring for an Airfield Lighting Assistant to support the delivery and maintenance of critical airfield lighting systems at RAF Brize Norton, the UK's largest Royal Air Force station and principal military air transport hub.
This is a hands-on, outdoor role supporting a team of Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) Electrical Engineers responsible for maintaining the lighting systems that ensure the safe operation of the airfield 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The position would suit candidates from a range of backgrounds including warehouse operations, logistics, labouring, facilities maintenance, military service, airport operations, engineering support or similar practical environments. Previous airfield experience is advantageous but not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support AGL Electrical Engineers with planned and reactive maintenance activities.
- Drive engineers, tools, equipment and materials around the airfield.
- Operate site vehicles, including 4x4 vehicles and vans.
- Assist with airfield inspections and routine maintenance tasks.
- Transport and install replacement lighting equipment and materials.
- Maintain stores, tools, vehicles and equipment.
- Assist with emergency fault response activities when required.
- Ensure all activities are completed safely and in accordance with site procedures.
- Work closely with the engineering team to support the safe operation of the airfield.
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for reliable, safety-conscious individuals who enjoy practical work and working as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexible approach to shift working and on-call responsibilities.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance required for working on a military airfield.
- Ability to meet the visual standards required for airside operational duties, including distinguishing aviation lighting colours.
- Experience operating commercial vehicles or 4x4 vehicles.
