Science Teacher - Alternative Provision (Secondary)

Northamptonshire & Surrounding Areas | Full-Time & Long-Term Opportunities | Booked via Tradewind Recruitment

Are you a passionate Science Teacher looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people? Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a number of well-established Alternative Provision schools across Northamptonshire and the surrounding areas, offering rewarding long-term opportunities for dedicated educators.

These schools support secondary-aged students who require a more personalised approach to education. Pupils may have a range of additional needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism (ASC), ADHD, anxiety, trauma, or behavioural challenges. Class sizes are significantly smaller than in mainstream settings, allowing teachers to build strong relationships with students and provide tailored support that helps them succeed.

As a Science Teacher, you will deliver engaging and accessible lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, adapting your teaching to meet individual learning needs. You'll be supported by experienced teaching assistants and pastoral teams, working collaboratively to create a positive and nurturing learning environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.

The Role:

  • Deliver engaging Science lessons to secondary-aged students.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to suit a range of learning styles and additional needs.
  • Foster positive relationships and encourage student engagement.
  • Support pupils in developing confidence, resilience and a love for learning.
  • Work closely with support staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams to ensure the best outcomes for every student.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Science at secondary level.
  • Previous experience within Alternative Provision, SEN, SEMH or behaviour settings is highly desirable, although teachers with strong classroom management and a passion for inclusive education are encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A patient, resilient and adaptable approach.
