Application Scientist in Glasgow, City of Glasgow

STEM Recruitment is seeking a skilled Application Scientist to join our client’s innovative team based in Glasgow and Strathclyde, Scotland. The ideal candidate will have a strong chemistry background, with experience in food manufacturing, and expertise in hydrogel, collagen, colloid, and gel-based systems. Your role will involve developing scientific insights into the behaviour of casings and gels in customer applications, collaborating with material scientists and process engineers, and delivering technical solutions for product development. This position demands hands-on scientific work, creativity, and proactive collaboration to enable product and technology innovation.

• Master’s or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Food Technology, or related fields
• At least three years’ experience in research, product development or technical applications
• Experience working with hydrogels, collagen, colloids, and related systems in a lab or pilot setting
• Strong analytical and scientific insight skills
• Experience in food manufacturing or sausage production is desirable
