Apprentice Tool Setter

HOURS: During the length of the apprenticeship - Days (8am - 4pm) with support on afternoons (2pm - 10pm) as and when required. On completion of apprenticeship, it would be 3 shifts - Days/Afters/Nights on a 3-week rotation
SALARY: £11.52 p/hr starting salary, increasing on successful completion of the apprenticeship

BASE: Site Based - S & S Plastics - Sutton in Ashfield (The successful candidate would need to travel and stay in Telford for a full working week approx. 7 times over the course of the apprenticeship - dates provided in advance.)

As an Apprentice, you will complete a Polymer Processing Technician Apprenticeship Programme to Level 3 with Wolverhampton College for 20% of your working time. You will learn the practical skills and the theory, whilst working alongside skilled craftsmen, to learn both the machining and hand skills required.
WHAT OUR APPRENTICE TOOL SETTERS DO:
- Under guidance, complete manufacturing process activities
- Produce polymer products to a specification in line with the Level 3 apprenticeship standard
- Assist the Technical Team with raw material batch preparation
- Assist the Techinical Team with initial start ups and optimisation
- Adhere to site Health and Safety processes and procedures as directed
WHAT WE NEED FROM OUR APPRENTICE TOOLSETTERS
- Able to communicate in a professional and polite manner at all times
- Practically minded and willing to learn new skills
- Technical aptitude
- Self motivated
- Good time management
- Able to work as part of a team
- Good IT Skills
- GCSE English, Grade 4 or above
- GCSE Mathematics, Grade 4 and above
- The minimum age is 18 due to the overnight stays at Wolverhampton college.
