About the Role

As an Approved Electrician/Wireman, you will be involved in the installation, testing, of HV systems on a substation project. You’ll work to strict safety and quality standards, supporting the successful and compliant delivery of key project milestones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installing and maintaining HV distribution systems, SCADA, signalling and control equipment
  • Installing containment: tray, trunking, conduit, ladder rack
  • Small wiring and multi‑core cabling
  • Fault‑finding, diagnostics, and electrical testing
  • Completing installation paperwork, test sheets, and daily logs
  • Interpreting drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications
  • Safe operation and upkeep of HV tools and testing equipment
  • Working effectively with engineers, supervisors, and wider project teams

Requirements

✔️ JIB Approved Electrician status (2391 essential)

✔️ 18th Edition – BS 7671

✔️ Previous experience working on HV substations

✔️ Strong understanding of HV safety and industry regulations

✔️ Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and technical drawings

✔️ Proven experience with testing and inspection
